Steve Freeman serves Grace Baptist Church as our Senior Pastor. Bro. Steve was born in Nashville, TN, but has spent most of his life as a resident of Clarksville, TN prior to coming to Springfield. Steve is married to Leigh Ann, and they have two children- Cole and Katie.
Steve was working as an Operations Supervisor for UPS, when God called him into the ministry. Steve surrendered into the ministry in 2002 and was licensed to preach the Gospel and Ordained into the ministry by Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN.
Bro. Steve and Leigh Ann both graduated from Austin Peay State University. Leigh Ann graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, while Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Bro. Steve completed his Masters of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Bro. Steve enjoys sports, hunting or fishing, and the outdoors; as well as spending time with his family. You will find Bro. Steve, when not at work, involved in helping local community sports such as Little League Baseball, Golf, or Basketball. Email:

Bro. Johnny McCartney was born in Milan but grew up in a small community outside Milan called Skullbone. Bro. Johnny served as Student Minister at New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dyer, Tennessee before moving to the church in Milan. Johnny has been married to his wife, Autumn, since 1998. Together they have two children, Cole and Ally. Bro. Johnny attended Lambuth University in Jackson, TN his freshman year of college on a football scholarship. He played for one year until he was sidelined with an injury that would cause him to hang up his cleats. After his freshman year in college Johnny spent the next 8 years as a landscape manager, business owner, and designer while working on his degree. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Union University in 2007. Autumn attended Bethel University graduating in 2001 with a degree in Business Management. She is currently employed At Ceco Door Products in as the MRO purchasing manager.
In 2002, Bro. Johnny surrendered to the Ministry at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Milan, TN. In the summer of 2003 Johnny was called to his first church, New Bethlehem. After graduation, Bro. Johnny went into full-time ministry.
Bro. Johnny and his family enjoy spending time together outdoors. They spend their free time on the water, hunting, and gardening. Bro. Johnny enjoys many different sports and likes to utilize mainstream sports as opportunities to teach people about Christ. Email:

Jayme Hawthorne was born and raised in Louisiana. She is the youngest of 4 to a Pastor in Louisiana. She has lived all over Louisiana but primarily in West Monroe, LA.
Jayme surrendered to the call of ministry on her life at the age of 18. She has served in ministry since she was 19 years old primarily working with youth and children. She served in ministry throughout her college career while attending Louisiana College where she earned a BA in Religious Education. Jayme graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2009 with a Master of Divinity in Christian Education. Jayme enjoys reading, painting, and ceramics. Peggy Williams came to Grace Baptist Church in June of 2008. Peggy has worked as a Ministry Assistant for the past 18 years at Hilldale Baptist Church, Clarksville.
Peggy was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Peggy has 2 children, Mark & Amanda, a granddaughter, Chelsea, daughter-in-law Christi and son-in-law, Brian. She currently lives in Clarksville, TN. Her hobbies include reading, spending time with her family and friends, being at the beach and teaching youth about Jesus. She has a love for youth ministry and has worked with students 6th-12th grade for 26 years.
Peggy has a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and strives to minister to the people that she comes into contact with through the Church office. Her lifelong scripture is Proverbs 3: 5-6.

Sharon Allen began working at Grace Baptist Church in May of 2011. Her prior career revolved around the country music industry. She felt the call of the Lord to work for The Kingdom and landed immediately at Grace Baptist Church as a ministry assistant
Sharon was born in Mexico, Missouri and was raised south of Hannibal in the (very) small town of Frankford. She moved to Tennessee over 30 years ago. Sharon has two children, Dee Dee and Danny, four grandchildren, Courtney, Zachry, Jaclynne & Sean and one great granddaughter Aby. She currently resides in Greenbrier, TN.
Her hobbies include reading, antiquing, and reading some more.
Sharon’s personal relationship with God started at an early age thanks to parents who were believers. She joined Grace Baptist in 2009 and now teaches the Bethany Class. There is no reading more fascinating than the Word of God and there are no friends better than your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Bro. Ed Norman serves Grace Baptist Church as the Team Leader of our Interim Worship Team. Ed was born in Tupelo, Mississippi. After living in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, his parents moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1964.
After graduating from Bowling Green High School in 1975, Ed attended Western Kentucky University for 1 year. Upon realizing God had a call on his life, he transferred Liberty University in 1976. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music education in 1980. After teaching Music at the high school level in Virginia for a few years, he moved back to Bowling Green, where he presently resides. In 1991, he graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Masters of Arts in Education. He is presently pursuing a Masters of Divinity from Tyndale Theological Seminary in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After teaching school for many years, Ed accepted a call to serve as the Pastor of Worship at the Hillvue Heights Church in Bowling Green. He served there from 1991-2003, of which 8 of those years were at a full time capacity. During that time he saw the church grow from 30 members to over 6,000 in Worship! Sarah Davison serves Grace Baptist Church as an Associate Worship Leader for our Interim Worship Team.
Sarah is originally from a family farm in Southwest Iowa and moved to Nashville in 2002 to attend Belmont University, where she graduated with a degree in Piano Performance and Music Business. She answered the calling to music ministry in high school, working with Cowboy Church and other outreaches in her surrounding area. Since that time, Sarah has worked alongside music industry professionals in both Country and Christian music in Nashville and throughout the United States. Currently Sarah tours with her Christian group "High Road" who recently received the Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year award by the NTCMA in 2010. Joining the ministry team at Grace Baptist Church was an answer to prayer. "I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church family and get to serve my Lord and Savior through music. I look forward to seeing what God has in store for our church, and it gives me such joy to see lives be changed and transformed through the saving grace of Jesus Christ." Email:

Justin Tucker serves Grace Baptist Church as an Associate Worship Leader for our Interim Worship Team. Justin also serves as the Youth Worship Leader. Justin was born and resides in Clarksville, TN. He is also employed by UPS as an Operations Supervisor.
Justin felt God’s call into ministry when he was a junior in high school. Since his calling, Justin has led worship in many different venues and has previously served other churches as a Worship Leader. After High School, Justin attended Union University and Austin Peay State University.
Justin enjoys playing music, St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, University of Tennessee Athletics, Indianapolis Colts Football, Tony Stewart Racing, and spending time with his family. Email:
