Dr. Steve Freeman serves Grace Baptist Church as our Senior Pastor. Bro. Steve was born in Nashville, TN, and spent most of his life as a resident of Clarksville, TN prior to coming to Springfield. Dr. Freeman is married to Leigh Ann, and they have two children - Cole and Katie. Dr. Freeman worked as an Operations Supervisor for UPS for many years, when he felt the call of God to surrender to full-time Christian ministry. Bro. Steve was licensed to preach the Gospel and ordained into the ministry by Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN. Dr. Freeman and Leigh Ann both hold undergraduate degrees from Austin Peay State University. Leigh Ann graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, while Bro. Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Dr. Freeman obtained his Master of Divinity and his Doctor of Ministry degree(s) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Personally, Bro. Steve enjoys playing golf, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with his family. Professionally, Dr. Freeman has a passion to see the people of Robertson County experience life-change through the power of God’s Word. While serving as Senior Pastor, Grace Baptist Church has experienced growth of over 1,900 additions in the past 14 years. As Robertson County continues to grow, Dr. Freeman and the people of Grace Baptist Church remain steadfast in investing in our schools and hosting community events that promote spiritual growth and unity.
Dr. Freeman has also served in various leadership roles in Southern Baptist life. Having just completed his tenure as President of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, Dr. Freeman had the opportunity to be a pastor to the over 3,000 Southern Baptist pastors across the state of Tennessee and to help them formulate plans and develop ministries designed to reach into their communities and invoke life-change and promote overall community health.
